Total Solar Eclipse Full Day Tour
Join us on a tour to see one of the greatest spectacles that nature has to offer. A total solar eclipse is rare phenomenon, which only takes place every 18 months on average and is only visible from a small area of the planet each time. On August 12th 2026 a total eclipse will be visible from Iceland, an event that won‘t be repeated until the year 2196. This is therefore a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a total eclipse from Iceland.
On this tour, we will drive to a location in the Snæfellsnes peninsula. The site has been carefully selected, and will provide the best possible observation site of the eclipse without mountains, trees or tall buildings blocking the view, while still offering a safe place to focus on the sky. From here, the eclipse will be visible for just over two hours from start to finish, and the total eclipse will last for 2 minutes and 7 seconds. During the tour, your expert guide will tell you all you might want to know about eclipses, and explain the science and history behind the event.
To make the most of your day, stops will be made at natural wonders en route to the selected viewpoint. This includes the volcanic crater of Eldborg, and the uniquely shaped Kirkjufell mountain.
